Up and coming Nashville artist Elliot Root is set for a big year having just released their highly anticipated debut full-length record, Conjure, on August 25 via E.R. Recordings/Thirty Tigers.

Co-produced by the band’s own Melissa Mattey and Scott Krueger alongside Tony High at Nashville’s Blackbird Studios and Width Music, Conjure follows the group’s Thoughts From Yesterday and II EPs. Elliot Root features Krueger (vocals, guitars), Mattey (keyboards, drum programming), Sean Truskowski (drums) and Todd Bond (guitars).

Writing and recording the album over the course of a year, the band worked out their material at Mattey and High’s own Width Music Studio before moving to Blackbird Studios to lay down the tracks. “We would usually start the days off with an idea or two and spend the rest of the day experimenting and letting each idea unfold,” explains frontman Krueger. “I don’t think we had any sort of preconceived notion as to what we wanted things to sound like, our main goal was to really just get out of our own way and do whatever felt natural at the moment. Eventually we could see a common thread start to run through everything we were writing.”

Bruno Major splices classic singer/songwriter confessionals with sleek modern electronic production, girding the entire enterprise with hints of soul. Based in Camden, London, Major was trained as a classical guitarist and released a live EP -- appropriately called Live EP -- in 2014 but he first received attention in 2016, when he set out to release a new song every month for a full year, a project that would extend into 2017. He accompanied this steady stream of digital singles with regular live appearances in London, sometimes opening for Lianne La Havas. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi

Halifax's dance wunderkind, Rich Aucoin, will play a handful of small shows in February before the launch of his new record. Expect a sweaty video dance party with all the usual tricks and an added bonus - a pile of new songs - his best dance songs to date.

Rich Aucoin has never been one to do things normally. You may have heard the stories by now: how he biked across Canada for childhood leukaemia research - booking his east coast shows while on the radio on the west coast. Or how, on the next tour, he ran half-marathons for a heart & stroke foundation while stopping in cities across Canada to record an album with over 500 musicians on it.
