The back story: Miracle Fruit (Synsepalum dulcificum) is a berry native to West Africa and has been known to Westerners since the 18th century. It contains a natural chemical that temporarily rewires certain tastes buds causing intensely bitter/sour flavours to taste deliciously sweet.
