ETHAN JOHNS has made a solid name for himself as a producer for the likes of Laura Marling, Kings Of Leon, and The Vaccines, but he is just as gently majestic when behind the mic. Quite rightly named Best British Producer at last year’s Brit Awards, Johns’ 10-track debut solo album is a placid but gutsy amble that pitches him as Bill Callahan dealing with a lazy hangover the morning after a pub crawl with Guy Garvey. Entitled, If Not Now Then When?, the album features guest spots from Marling as well as another of Johns' longterm collaborators, Ryan Adams.
The Drake Underground hosts one of his few North American tour dates this summer, which is sure to be a special evening. Local indie-folk singer-songwriter MEGAN BONNELL will open the show.
