“With every action, we make trash. Casually, as a matter of course, we throw things away. The concept of trash is the Midas touch inverted, and its malleability allows it to convert anything or anyone into garbage.” -John Knechtel

Alphabet City no. 11: TRASH, edited by John Knechtel, is an anthology of texts and art works co-published with the MIT Press on the subject of waste, and what the ethics and psychology of trash reveal about contemporary society.

In association with the TRASH festival, Drake presents an exhibition of artists selected from TRASH, plus artists working on the theme of garbage. Also on exhibit are video works in tandem with the October residencies of Yarisal & Kublitz (Berlin) and Andreas Koch (from Berlin, in association with the Goethe-Institut Toronto).
